Surprise Party & High Tea {Central PA Wedding Photographer}

The other day I had the pleasure of documenting a 50th Birthday Party at a cute little place hidden away in Lancaster County.
The woman enjoyed High Tea and delicious food as they rang in the celebration of their friends milestone.  If you haven’t had the
pleasure of enjoying this place…check out Sugarplums & Tea if you are in this area.  The staff is extremely friendly, the food
is out of this world and Lavender Tea was beyond yummy !

I purchased 5 ounces…and not only does it smell fabulous but it relaxes you and prepares you
for an amazing sleep.

Enjoy !

Hi my name is Robin and I am a Sugarholic

So this year I decided that I was going to get back into shape.  There was a day not so long ago that I wasn’t overweight…I barely remember it these days…but 30lbs is my goal to loose.  I catch a lot of crap from people “you don’t need to lose weight…you look great”…blah, blah, blah.  Well…I get the naked version…so I am sure I need to lose 30lbs.

I decided to just let go of all the “whites” in my life.  Sugar being number one…after reading the truth about sugar…I decided it was time to detoxify my body…to get clean…and the first thing I did was cleaned house and got rid of anything with sugar in it…yes…all there is NO sugar in my house now.  None !  I have replaced it with honey…organic.  I refused to give up my sweet coffee in the morning with a lot of cream.  It is my one sweet delight of the day…except for all the fresh fruit and I mean A LOT of fresh fruit.  Blueberries, blackberries, fresh pineapple, apples, pears, bananas.

Oh and instead of iced tea (Turkey Hill brand…if you are from Lancaster County you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about)…and coke.   Give me my water now…1/2 my body weight in ounces to be exact.

I have been keeping a food record…and it is keeping me accountable.  I am eating 1500 calories a day.  Walking 1 mile a day.  It has paid off.  In one week…I am down 7 lbs :)  I have decided to stay away from the ugly scale daily…I will visit that monster only once a week.  I used to do the daily thing…and I found it became discouraging.  Weekly is better.

I haven’t felt this good in a long time either.  Getting off all the “white” stuff can be so good for you…both physically and mentally.  When I read that sugar uses the same pathway to the brain that heroin does…that was enough for me to say…later buddy…we are no longer friends.  It has elevated my mood and I have become more positive.  Research it…it can kill you…sugar is evil…and I have made a commitment to myself that I will no longer engage or entertain it.

Don’t fear the scale…embrace it…when you are working towards a goal…it can become friend…not foe.  But only dance with it once a week and you will see better progress.  Thats what is working for me.

So…anyone with me?  Anyone want to challenge themselves?

Eating the rainbow…

This year I made a commitment to myself…no more sugar !  I have an intense obsession with sugar and it has caused me to gain some weight.

I took control this year.  It’s my only resolution…but more of  a health issue for me.  I saw on “The Daniels Plan” that we should eat the Rainbow…so thats what I am doing.

It amazes me how addicting sugar is but even more how bad it really is for our bodies.  How it really has a more negative impact on us than actual fat.

So I am eating the rainbow…it’s easy and so far I am loving the lifestyle change…

Oh and it’s pretty :)

I love the smell…

Yesterday I set out to get a library card (as everyone shutters at the thought) with Kindles, Ipads and Nooks why on earth would I need a library card you ask?

Well…I love the smell of the library (I know…weird)…but it gets to me…it reminds me of my school years when I used to go to the library and spend hours learning the “Dewey Decimal System.”  The crazy part is I understood it and it came right back to me.  Just like a song will take you back to a moment in time…or a smell or a taste.

I know we live in an age of technology…but it really does have its downfall.  No application on my Ipad can ever take me back in my mind to a “simpler time.”  Get a library card…and go back to that place when you were a kid.  It will give you a different perspective.  It might even remind you how fortunate we all were back then…back when life was so simple

Happy New Year

In front of the camera…

Sometimes it is necessary to get a feel for what my clients go through…so once a year I get in front of the camera.  This gives me a completely different perspective.  I don’t find myself photogenic by any means…but my friend and second shooter Michele Johns of Michele Johns Photography brought out the 135 mm lens and her living room chair and we had some fun.  Take a look.

Thanks my dear friend for some fun and great images :)

Heirlooms

When my dear friend Lisa from ImagoModo Photography asked me to help shoot her cousin’s wedding, I had no idea what I was in for but I was excited about the adventure.

Class, style and grace pretty much sums up this wedding.  And although there are so many things about it that were fabulous…the one thing that stuck out in my mind and touched me the most was the couples appreciation for photography and the impact longevity of marriage runs in their families.

I always tell my couples that your wedding photography is an heirloom and that it is an investment in your future.  The beauty in how this couple displayed the respect they have for marriage at their wedding, really had an impact on my heart.

I hope it will have an impact on yours.

Happy Monday !
